Educational visits on the farm

Educational Visits 

These visits are aimed at Schools, Colleges, Schools for additional needs and home educated children. 

The charge is for a maximum of 10 children per group and accompanying adults. We can do smaller groups on request please contact us to discuss.  

After all sessions there is an option to have your food/ picnic in our wild flower field or at tables in our open shed. 

We can adapt all sessions accordingly to suit needs, you also have the option of using our open shed to conduct your own lesson inline with your curriculum. 

Tea and coffee is available for adults and squash or water for children.

Please note we are currently trying to get funding to be able to provide funded educational visits from later this year. Please call us to discuss further 

Option 1: Sensory Experience - no walk 

• Session to last approx 2 hours
• Stroking the animals, grooming donkeys and feeding carrots to the goats and alpacas.  
• Meet the pigs
• Look at the chickens and ducks and try to spot the peacocks. 
• Small talks on all the different animals
• Bring snack to have in our open shed afterwards
• Take home some alpaca fleece

Option 2: Short walk and sensory experience 

• Session to last approx 2 hours
• Short walk around some of our fields including a nature trail with things to spot and learn about. 
• Learn about our animals (what they eat, how to care for them, where they come from and their history) 
• Sensory experience - stroking the animals, grooming the donkeys and feeding carrots to the goats and alpacas. 
• Learn about the wildlife and conservation on our farm. 
• Information on farming and the different types - what you might find on different farms. 
• Take home some alpaca fleece 

Option 3: Long walk, sensory and learning about the farm. 

• Long walk through the woodland and fields including a nature trail and things to find and spot
• Learn about the animals as above  
• Stroke the animals, groom the donkeys, feed the alpacas and goats. 
• Meet the pigs 
• See the chickens and ducks and peacocks. 
• Learn how we environmentally manage our farm and help the wildlife and plants. 
• Information on farming and the different types. What you might find on different farms. How big farms differ from small farms. What is produced by different types of farms?
• Field to fork - what do you think the process might be, do you think the farmer gets lots of money? 
• How do you think small farms can change the way they farm to get by and carry on for future generations?
• Take home some alpaca fleece.
